Don’t Be Fooled by Extreme Sport Pros

extreme sport prosExtreme sports are sweeping the world. Anything considered “extreme” has grown so rapidly in popularity, it’s hard to consider that it’s still extreme!

But, there are still a whole lot of people that would never consider taking the risks that are involved with most extreme sports. And, that’s really what makes the difference between traditional competitive sports and extreme sports—some added danger, some added physical exertion, unpredictable environmental conditions, or extreme equipment.

Some sports, previously considered to be “extreme” are not falling into that category as much any more. One example of this is scuba diving. Scuba diving used to be considered to be an extreme sport, until it became popular with more of a mature, adult crowd; now it is considered to be more of a mainstream activity or sport.

This is what seems to happen when the “old folks” get involved…..

The younger generations seem to prefer to push the limits more. You don’t see too many grown-ups catching major air in a skateboard park, doing acrobatic stunts on a BMX bike, or base jumping.

But, the newest, youngest, and most talented extreme sports enthusiasts make it look so easy!

It’s important to remember that even though it looks easy, there is a lot of practice and planning and preparation that goes into any stunt or extreme sport. The inherent risks and danger must be considered, and extreme sports are really not for the reckless!

Recording Extreme Sports

Catching your extreme moves on video can be very dangerous if you are going forfirst person footage. DO NOT strap a mini-dvr to yourself and think you’ll get anything but messy video and a broken camera.

Invest in a solid-state dvr packaged with a helmet cam or bullet. Here are a couple of places to shop:

ExtremeSportVideo.net

This is not the cheapest solution but is probably the best. The Extreme Sport Video Recorder offered by Video Intel Int’l is a high resolution solid-state dvr with a built in mic. Right now you can get both a bullet cam and helmet cam for the price of one. This site also has great content – articles, podcast links and videos on various extreme sports.

HelmetCameraCentral.com

This site offers a few solid recording choices and some decent reviews on each. The units they are offering are more mainstream and may not withstand the rigors of your extreme sport but are worth a look.
